Large Installations

Christmas has arrived at The Ned!

During the final days of lock-down, it was wonderful to see our whole team of florists working safely together again, busy with the install we’ve been looking forward to all year: Christmas at The Ned. By the time the hotel re-opened on the 2nd December, Christmas had well and truly arrived.

From the rooftop right down to the Spa, we’ve installed beautiful festive displays. Garlands and wreaths are hung, trees are twinkling and the show-stopping halo is glistening above the bandstand.

This year’s main tree almost touches the Hotel ceiling at 22 feet tall! The British-grown Premier Nordman tree is perhaps our most extravagant yet - with over 6000 fairy lights, gold toned foliage and an array of champagne, ivory and gold baubles. We were overjoyed to see that Harpers Bazaar have declared it their favourite tree in the Capital - and whilst we may be biased, it’s definitely ours too.

Something Spooky at Home House

A Halloween afternoon tea called for some beautiful floral dressing with macabre touches at Home House this week… We set the scene with arrangements laced with creepy crawlies, gourds and of course faux cobwebs. Blood red Roses, dried Peonies and Dahlias rose out of bird cages as part of huge fireplace arrangements, whilst eruptions of peacock toned Lisianthus, Twisted Willow and striped Tulips peeked through the cobwebbed windows.

A romantic dinner for two at the Four Seasons Hotel

On a crisp Autumn afternoon recently, we ventured out of central London to the scenic Four Seasons Hotel in Hampshire, to create a stunning floral installation for two guests to enjoy with Banana Split.

Above a romantic corner table for two in the Hotel’s restaurant, we dressed an ornate gazebo from top to bottom, with plumes of fragrant Secret Garden Roses, trailing Clematis and Astilbe. By the time the sun was setting, with just a few candle-lit steps to the open doors and the rolling hills, it was a really beautiful scene!

Malfy Gin's roof-top takeover at The Ned

We brought the Amalfi Coast to The Ned’s rooftop bar for Malfy Gin's takeover. A luscious canopy of lemons and bougainvillea trailed above the heads of guests who were enjoying Malfy cocktails in the sunshine. Tempting citrus fruit was nestled amongst swathes of beautiful coral peeled-back rose arrangements, overflowing from characterful blue pottery across the tables and bars; it was all too easy to forget we weren't in a sun-soaked Italian lemon grove for the day...

A Beautiful Blossom Window for Method and Madness at Harvey Nichols

We were so excited to be tasked with creating a Cherry Blossom window display for the beautiful Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge store recently, in order to introduce Method and Madness’ limited edition Wild Cherry Wood Whiskey. We filled the window top to bottom with an explosion of silk blossom and branches to frame the mirrored plinths displaying the unique bottles, intriguing the passers-by on Sloane Street.

The Ned Wedding Showcase 2020

We love a wedding at The Ned, so having the chance to meet prospective Brides whilst crafting flower crowns at their Wedding Showcase proved a rather dreamy way to spend a day. We had been there en masse at dawn, installing a high reaching floral arch. Built with a combination of ethereal clouds of gypsophila, playa blanca roses, hydrangea and branches of blooming magnolia; it framed the stage in the already beautiful Salon Room perfectly. We hope we have the opportunity to recreate it for a couple soon!

The most wonderful time of the year... at The Ned

Christmas has officially landed at The Ned! On the ground floor of the former banking hall we installed an 18-foot British-grown Premier Nordman tree with 4,000 traditional fairy lights, velvet bows and more than 1,000 gold and burgundy baubles. A host of classic decorations spread a festive glow throughout the ground floor and in the middle of it all hangs the largest twinkling wreath in the City, illuminating The Nickel Stage, where live music will be performed each day. Pop in and see for yourself - we hope this season’s guests enjoy the decorations as much as we enjoyed making them!

Scorpios takeover of Annabel's

For the first time, Scorpios ascended to London exclusively for Annabel's Members for an entire Club takeover. We brought Mykonos to Mayfair using grasses, hay, cotton, dried artichokes and driftwood to create growing gardens for this contemporary interpretation of the Ancient Greek Agora. Each room in The Club saw Scorpios DJs taking over the decks, and Scorpios Chefs presiding over the menu, conjuring the spirit of Mykonos through music and food for a fully immersive and authentic Scorpios experience.

Bollywood Brunch at Annabel's

One Sunday a month sees The Garden at Annabel's transformed for their Party Brunch Series. We've filled the legendary club with flowers and foliage for high-energy brunches themed around Mexico and Mykonos via Mayfair and Mumbai. The beginning of summer was marked with a Bollywood Brunch. Bringing the colours, flavours and sounds of India to Mayfair.

Outside we dressed Annabel's famous facade in swaths of marigolds hanging from the balconies and railings. Inside, The Rose Room was dressed in a bright array of peonies, roses, dahlias. The event was a riot of colour and texture, a true feast for the senses.

Chelsea in Bloom, people's champion award

In 2019 John Lewis & Partners participated in alternative floral art show Chelsea in Bloom for the first time - and we were tasked with creating a show-stopping first impression. An astounding 3,000 fresh blooms were needed to craft our ‘under the sea’ themed display on behalf of John Lewis and Edinburgh Gin. Our sustainable design sculpted flowers into tumbling waves, tropical fish and colourful corals using chicken wire and no floral foam. Edinburgh Seaside Gin inspired our choice of bladderwrack, rose and lavender to create the colourful seabed.

We were over the moon to win a Gold Award for efforts… but scooping The 2019 People’s Champion Award made our year!

Flowerbomb facade for Fenwick, Bond Street

We had brilliant fun crafting a colourful pastel explosion of 10,000 silk flowers that were intertwined with fabulous Bubblegum Balloons. The installation hung above the iconic entrance to Fenwick, Bond Street to celebrate the launch of 'The Summer Season with Alice & Tom Naylor-Leyland.' The flowerbomb was a mix of rich spring flowers and foliage, the tones of which were mirrored by the balloon colours which cascaded across the storefront designed by Banana Split.

Burberry Her Launch

For the launch of a new fragrance for women, Her Eau de Parfum, Burberry launched their ‘Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner' campaign starring Cara Delevigne. As part of the accompanying experiential activity to capture the spirit of London we worked with Burberry and RedHouse Production to create a striking installation on London’s Southbank. Inside a six-metre long perspex box, complete with scented steam effect and pink neon lighting design, we created a series of ethereal gypsophila clouds scattered with white orchids.

A special tree for Annabel's

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, particularly in Mayfair where we helped assemble one of the biggest Christmas trees in town at Annabel’s. Working with the immensely talented team at S2, we turned the club's famous facade into a gigantic tree lighting up Berkley Square with its thousands of lights, baubles and oversized gifts. A candy cane door arch and giant gold bow provided the finishing touches... not forgetting a gold star shining brightly on top of course!

House & Garden included the festive facade in their round-up of ‘The best Christmas Trees on show in London’

Halloween at Annabel's

A blood-curdling amount of effort went into our transformation of Mayfair institution Annabel’s for Halloween 2018. Weeks of preparation alongside two production companies culminated in an all-day installation to cover the club’s famous facade in creepy-crawlies and cobwebs. Inside, we metamorphosed the Rose Room into a cemetery for the fright night using fresh red roses, black waxed roses and acres of moss. Our Horror Maze laden with hanging vines led ghoulish guests to the Underworld Nightclub.

Annabel's Jungle Party

The Grandirosa team pulled off it's largest event to date in the form of Annabel's Jungle Party held at its stunning club in Berkeley Square. We worked with three production studios to create a spectacular evening for their valued private members.

The star-studded crowd were greeted by performers dressed as monkeys abseiling off of the all-natural foliage and flower facade our team built. Acrobats adorned in wild and wonderful costumes swang down the six flights of stairs hanging from natural garlands in the main stairwell. We transformed the Garden Room into a tropical paradise where Rita Ora surprised the audience on a custom-built stage which we covered in clusters of bananas, monkey vine, lotus pods, tropical leaves and Spanish moss. In the Elephant Room we used grasses and dried flowers to create a more African-inspired jungle scape. An unbeatable setting for a serious jungle boogie!
